1. Introduction

Welcome to Netherbus. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our website, mobile application, and bus transportation services. By accessing our website, using our application, or purchasing tickets for our bus services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using our services. If you do not agree to all the terms and conditions of this agreement, you may not access the website, use any services, or purchase any tickets.

We may revise these Terms and Conditions at any time by updating this page. You are encouraged to check this page from time to time to take notice of any changes we made, as they are binding on you.

Important Notice: These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Netherbus. By using our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms.

2. Definitions

Throughout these Terms and Conditions, the following terms shall have the meanings assigned to them below:

"Company", "We", "Us", or "Our"
Refers to Netherbus, a company registered in the Netherlands with its head office located at Damrak 123, 1012 AB Amsterdam.
"Website"
Refers to the Netherbus website, accessible from www.nlbus.com.
"Application"
Refers to the Netherbus mobile application available on iOS and Android platforms.
"Services"
Refers to the bus transportation services provided by Netherbus.
"Ticket"
Refers to the confirmation of a booking for a journey on our Services.
"User", "You", or "Your"
Refers to the individual accessing or using the Website, Application, or Services, or the company, or other legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using the Website, Application, or Services, as applicable.
"Passenger"
Refers to any individual traveling on our buses with a valid Ticket.
"Terms and Conditions" or "Terms"
Refers to these Terms and Conditions that form the entire agreement between You and the Company regarding the use of the Website, Application, and Services.

3. Our Services

Netherbus provides intercity bus transportation services throughout the Netherlands. Our services include:

3.1 Bus Transportation

We operate a fleet of buses providing scheduled passenger transport between various cities and towns across the Netherlands. Our routes, schedules, and fares are subject to change and are displayed on our Website and Application.

3.2 Online Booking

We provide an online booking system through our Website and Application, allowing users to search, select, and purchase tickets for our bus services.

3.3 Additional Services

We may offer additional services such as Wi-Fi on board, power outlets, extra luggage allowance, seat selection, and other amenities, which may be subject to additional terms and charges.

3.4 Service Availability

We will make reasonable efforts to provide our services as advertised, but we cannot guarantee that all services will always be available. Services may be subject to change or cancellation due to weather conditions, road works, traffic, mechanical issues, or other unforeseen circumstances.

4. Booking & Tickets

4.1 Ticket Purchase

Tickets can be purchased through our Website, Application, authorized agents, or at designated ticket offices. All tickets are subject to availability.

When you purchase a ticket, you will receive a booking confirmation via email or SMS, which serves as your ticket. You must present this confirmation or your booking reference number, along with a valid photo ID, when boarding the bus.

4.2 Ticket Validity

Tickets are only valid for the specific date, time, route, and passenger name indicated at the time of booking. Tickets are non-transferable and must not be resold or transferred to another person.

4.3 Pricing and Payment

All prices are displayed in Euros and include applicable taxes. Payment can be made using the payment methods specified on our Website or Application. We reserve the right to change prices at any time without prior notice.

We use third-party payment processors for secure transactions. Your payment information is not stored on our servers and is subject to the privacy policies and terms of service of our payment processors.

4.4 E-Tickets

E-tickets must be presented either in digital form on your mobile device or as a printed copy. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have a charged device or a clear printed copy of your ticket when boarding the bus.

4.5 Checking In

Passengers should arrive at the departure point at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. We reserve the right to deny boarding to passengers who arrive late.

4.6 Special Fares and Discounts

We offer special fares for children, students, seniors, and other eligible groups. To benefit from these fares, you must present a valid ID or documentation proving your eligibility when boarding the bus. If you cannot provide such documentation, you may be required to pay the difference to the standard fare or be denied boarding.

5. Passenger Responsibilities

5.1 Conduct on Board

Passengers must comply with all instructions given by the driver or any Netherbus representative. We reserve the right to refuse transportation or remove passengers from the bus who:

  • Present a risk to the safety of the driver, other passengers, or themselves
  • Behave in a disorderly, offensive, or disruptive manner
  • Are under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Smoke, including e-cigarettes, on board
  • Damage or soil the bus or equipment
  • Refuse to comply with safety instructions

5.2 Prohibited Items

For safety reasons, the following items are not permitted on our buses:

  • Hazardous materials, including flammable, explosive, or corrosive substances
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Illegal substances
  • Items with strong or unpleasant odors
  • Oversized items that obstruct aisles or emergency exits
  • Unrestrained animals (except service animals)

5.3 Travel Documents

Passengers are responsible for ensuring they have valid travel documents, including tickets and identification. For international routes, passengers must ensure they have valid passports and any necessary visas.

5.4 Special Assistance

If you require special assistance due to disability or reduced mobility, please inform us at least 48 hours before departure by contacting our customer service. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your needs.

6. Luggage Policy

6.1 Baggage Allowance

Each passenger is entitled to:

  • One piece of main luggage (up to 20kg) to be stored in the luggage compartment
  • One piece of hand luggage (up to 7kg) that can be kept with you on board

Additional luggage may be permitted for an extra fee, subject to space availability. We reserve the right to refuse excess or oversized luggage if there is insufficient space.

6.2 Valuable Items

Passengers are advised not to place valuable items, important documents, or fragile items in the main luggage compartment. These should be kept with you in your hand luggage. We are not responsible for the loss, damage, or theft of any valuables.

6.3 Prohibited Items in Luggage

In addition to the prohibited items listed in section 5.2, the following items must not be placed in checked luggage:

  • Cash, credit cards, or negotiable papers
  • Jewelry, precious metals, or stones
  • Electronic devices such as laptops, tablets, or cameras
  • Medications or medical devices needed during the journey
  • Perishable items
  • Fragile items that may be damaged during normal handling

6.4 Liability for Luggage

Our liability for lost or damaged luggage is limited as described in Section 8.3 of these Terms.

7. Cancellations & Refunds

7.1 Passenger Cancellations

Cancellation policies vary depending on the ticket type:

  • Standard Tickets: Cancellations made at least 24 hours before departure are eligible for a full refund minus a €5 administration fee.
  • Flexible Tickets: Can be cancelled up to 2 hours before departure for a full refund.
  • Economy Tickets: Non-refundable, but can be changed to another date (subject to a change fee) if requested at least 24 hours before departure.
  • Special Promotion Tickets: Generally non-refundable unless otherwise specified in the promotion terms.

To cancel a booking, you must use the cancellation function on our Website or Application, or contact our customer service.

7.2 Changes to Bookings

Changes to bookings (date, time, or route) can be made subject to availability and may incur a change fee, depending on the ticket type and how far in advance the change is requested.

7.3 Service Disruptions

In case of service cancellations or significant delays by Netherbus, passengers will be offered one of the following options:

  • Re-routing to the final destination at the earliest opportunity
  • Re-routing to the final destination at a later date of the passenger's choice
  • A refund of the ticket price

7.4 Force Majeure

Netherbus is not liable for any delays or cancellations due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to: extreme weather conditions, natural disasters, acts of government or public authorities, war, terrorism, riots, strikes, or other force majeure events. However, we will make reasonable efforts to minimize disruption to our services.

7.5 Refund Processing

Refunds will be processed using the same payment method used for the original purchase. Refunds may take up to 14 business days to be processed, depending on your payment provider.

8. Liability

8.1 Our Liability to You

We are liable for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or that of our employees, agents, or subcontractors. We are also liable for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

For all other liabilities, our liability is limited to the total fare paid for the journey in question.

8.2 Exclusions of Liability

We are not liable for:

  • Any loss or damage that is not foreseeable
  • Any loss or damage due to your failure to comply with these Terms
  • Business losses, including loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or loss of business opportunity
  • Any loss or damage due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control (force majeure)
  • Consequential or indirect losses

8.3 Luggage Liability

Our liability for loss of or damage to luggage is limited to €250 per passenger, unless a higher value has been declared in advance and additional charges have been paid.

We are not liable for:

  • Damage to unsuitably packed items
  • Minor damage such as scratches, scuffs, stains, or dents
  • Damage to handles, wheels, zippers, or other attachments
  • Items prohibited in luggage as per Section 6.3
  • Valuable items not kept in hand luggage

All claims for damaged or lost luggage must be reported to the driver immediately upon arrival and a written claim must be submitted within 7 days of the journey.

8.4 Website and Application Liability

We do not guarantee that the Website or Application will always be available or be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. We are not liable for any loss or damage caused by a virus, distributed denial-of-service attack, or other technologically harmful material that may infect your computer equipment, programs, data, or other material due to your use of our Website or Application.

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Ownership

The Website, Application, and all content, features, and functionality therein (including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio clips, and software) are owned by Netherbus or its licensors and are protected by Dutch and international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property or proprietary rights laws.

9.2 License to Use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to access and use the Website and Application for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

9.3 Restrictions

You may not:

  • Modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell any information or content obtained from the Website or Application
  • Use the Website or Application for any commercial purpose
  • Attempt to decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, or hack the Website or Application
  • Use data mining, robots, or similar data gathering and extraction methods
  • Remove any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices

10. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to our Website, Application, or Services immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including, without limitation, if you breach these Terms and Conditions.

All provisions of the Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive termination, including, without limitation, ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or any aspect of the relationship between you and Netherbus shall be resolved exclusively through the courts of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall be struck and the remaining provisions shall be enforced.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will try to provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.

By continuing to access or use our Website, Application, or Services after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, please stop using the Website, Application, and Services.

It is your responsibility to check these Terms periodically for changes. Your continued use of the Website, Application, or Services following the posting of changes to these Terms will mean that you accept and agree to the changes.
